Can My Bookkeeper or Partner Handle the MCA Process for Me?

Your bookkeeper or office manager can gather and send the documents and handle most of the back and forth with us. The owner still has to be on the verification call and sign the contract and guarantee personally.

What can a bookkeeper or partner handle for you?

A good bookkeeper is often faster than the owner at the paper side. They can:

  • Download the recent business bank statements and send them over.
  • Answer questions about specific deposits, transfers and returned items.
  • Gather the voided check, the business filings and the tax ID letter.
  • Tell us about any existing advances and their balances.
  • Keep the process moving while you run the business.

We're happy to talk with them directly, with your permission.

What can only the owner do?

A funder is entering a contract with your business and, in most cases, taking a personal guarantee from you. That means the owner has to confirm their identity, be on the verification call and sign. Nobody else can sign for you, even with your blessing, and the contract's signer has to match the person on the verification call. It's also worth being the one who reads the offer. Your bookkeeper can compare numbers, but the decision about the payment amount your business can carry belongs to you.

How do you make the handoff clean?

Tell us up front who we'll be working with and give us a way to reach you for the parts only you can do. Keep one point of contact per file so we aren't getting two versions of the same answer. If your bookkeeper is also your accountant, they'll want to read the contract terms, which is a good idea.

How do you keep your information safe in a handoff?

Bank statements hold account numbers, customer names and a lot of private detail. Send them only through the secure upload link we give you or to info@afterfirstmca.com, and ask your bookkeeper to do the same. Don't let anyone send your statements to a long list of companies you haven't heard of. That's how owners end up with dozens of calls from firms they never contacted. We don't sell your file or spray it across the market. We send it to funders we've chosen for your situation, and we tell you who they are. If your bookkeeper is handling the file, ask them to keep us as the single point of contact so the file doesn't get shopped twice by two different companies at the same time.

Who handles the advance after funding?

Your bookkeeper will also want to record the advance correctly, track the daily debits and reconcile the balance each month. Ask the funder for a servicing contact and a way to see the remaining balance, and share it with them.

How can Afterfirst help with this?

Have your bookkeeper email info@afterfirstmca.com with the business name and the statements, and cc yourself. Then call 877-FUND-654 so we can confirm we're allowed to talk with them. We'll handle the file with them and bring you in for the offer, the call and the signature.

More short answers on this topic are on the applying FAQ, and the funder fit checker runs the numbers for your own file.

Have a question we didn't answer?
