How Much Monthly Revenue Do I Need for an MCA?
Funders look at monthly deposits into your business bank account, not what your books say you sold. Each funder sets its own minimum, and many want steady five-figure months. More important than the number is steadiness: a business with the same deposits every month often gets a better offer than one with a big month and two small ones.
What does this look like with real numbers?
Say your deposits are $40,000, $42,000 and $38,000 over three months. The average is $40,000. If the three months were $70,000, $25,000 and $25,000, the average is the same, but the swing makes funders cautious, and some will size the offer off the lower months.
Which deposits don't count as revenue?
- Transfers from your own accounts.
- Loan or advance proceeds.
- Refunds and chargebacks.
- One-time asset sales.
Do processor and delivery app payouts count?
Yes, when they pay out your own sales. Card processor batches and delivery app deposits are sales revenue. Refunds, chargebacks and transfers between your own accounts come out before a funder settles on a monthly figure.
What if you're close to the minimum?
- Make sure all business sales go into the business account, since that's what funders count.
- Keep personal transfers out of the account, since funders often drop them from the average.
- Show a full month of deposits after any slow stretch if you can.
- Ask for a smaller amount, which some funders will look at on lower revenue.
Funders read the last few months together, so one strong month doesn't carry a file on its own. Steady beats spiky. If you're below a funder's floor, a few more months of steady deposits often changes the answer.
What should you ask the funder?
- What monthly deposit minimum do you use?
- How many months do you average?
- Do you drop the largest deposit?
- What counts as a transfer?
Where can you check your own numbers?
The short version is in the Qualifying FAQ. To check the numbers on your own advance, use the funder fit checker.
