MCA Broker and ISO FAQ
For MCA brokers and ISOs: sending files and getting paid.
Brokers and ISOs send us files that are hard to place on their own, and we shop them with the funders whose programs fit. Your merchant stays yours, and every offer on the file comes back to you in one format. Broker pay is set out in the written partner agreement.

For brokers and referral partners
How brokers, ISOs and referral partners work with us.
Can brokers send files to Afterfirst?
Yes. Email your file to info@afterfirstmca.com with Broker file in the subject line, or call 877-FUND-654 first to talk it through. We shop it with the funders whose programs fit, and you keep the relationship with your merchant. Every offer on the file comes back to you in one format, so it's easy to compare.

Will you contact my merchant directly?
Your merchant stays yours, and you stay the broker of record on the file. The written partner agreement spells out how contact with merchants on your files works, and you read it before you send anything. If you have a question about a specific file, call us at 877-FUND-654 and we'll walk through it.

What kind of files fit?
Harder files do well here: second or third position, recent declines, a thin history, or industries some funders avoid. We match them to funders whose programs take that kind of file, so you don't burn your merchant's time with funders who were never going to say yes. Clean first position files are welcome too.

How are brokers paid on Afterfirst deals?
Broker pay is set out in the written partner agreement, and you read it before you sign anything. Ask us for the agreement at info@afterfirstmca.com. The merchant never pays us a fee, and any commission on a deal is shown in the offer paperwork before the merchant signs.

How do I join as a broker?
Email info@afterfirstmca.com with your company name, your state and the kinds of files you usually place. We send you the partner agreement to read. Once it's signed, you can send files by email and call us about any file before you send it, so nothing goes out without a conversation first.

Can I refer a business without being a full-time broker?
Yes. Accountants, bookkeepers, consultants and others who know business owners can refer them as referral partners. You make the introduction, and we handle the file, the funders and the offers. How referral partners are paid is set out in a written agreement, which we send before you refer anyone. Email info@afterfirstmca.com to ask for it.

How do I become an MCA broker?
Most brokers start by learning how funders read bank statements, then build relationships with funders or work with a partner that already has them. Check your state's rules first, since some states require broker registration or cost disclosures. If you already know business owners and want funder access without building it yourself, our partner agreement is one way in.

Do MCA brokers need to be registered?
Some states require it. Texas, for one, has a registration process for providers and brokers of commercial sales-based financing, and other states require cost disclosures on offers. The rules keep changing, so check your state's financial regulator before you place files there, and ask us how a state's rules apply to a file.

What should a broker send with a file?
Full bank statements with every page, a current-month printout, the signed application and a list of open positions with balances and payments. Add a short note on anything unusual, like a bad month or a recent decline. Complete files get read sooner, and they tend to get cleaner offers from funders.

Can a broker charge the merchant a fee?
Some brokers do. Any fee should be in writing before the merchant signs, and a fee charged before funding is a warning sign. We never charge the merchant a fee: the funder pays our commission only if a deal funds, and the amount is in the offer paperwork before the merchant signs.
