How Many MCAs Can I Have at Once?
There's no legal limit, but the real limit is your deposits. Each advance takes its own payment from the same account. Many funders stop at a second or third position, and many current contracts carry an anti-stacking clause that bars any new one. Add up every payment before you add another and compare it to your slowest month.
What does this look like with real numbers?
| Weekly payment | |
|---|---|
| First advance | $1,800 |
| Second advance | $1,200 |
| Proposed third | $1,000 |
| Total | $4,000 |
If your deposits are $20,000 a week, the total takes 20%. If they drop to $12,000 in a slow month, it takes a third. Check yours in the stacked payment calculator.
What other options beat another advance?
If the total doesn't fit, look at consolidation or reverse consolidation instead of a new position.
What are the signs you're carrying too many?
- Your combined debits are more than a fifth of a slow week's deposits.
- You're taking a new advance mainly to make the old payments.
- Your balance dips close to zero on debit days.
- A funder has sent a notice about another advance.
If two or more of those are true, talk to us about consolidation or a restructure before adding another position. The stacked payment calculator adds your debits so you can see the total next to your deposits.
There's no legal cap on the number of advances. The limit is what your deposits can carry and what each contract allows.
How do you add up what your advances take?
List every daily and weekly debit, convert them to one weekly total, and set it next to your average weekly deposits. When the gap left over won't cover payroll, rent and stock, or you're using each new advance to make the last one's payments, it's time to look at a consolidation instead of another position.
What should you ask the funder?
- Does my current contract bar another advance?
- What position would this be?
- What's the combined weekly payment?
- Would you consolidate instead?
Where can you check your own numbers?
The short version is in the Positions and stacking FAQ. To check the numbers on your own advance, use the stacked payment calculator.
