How Much Can I Get From an MCA?
Funders size an advance from your average monthly deposits, and a first advance often lands somewhere near one month of deposits, more for strong files and less for newer ones. Open advances reduce it, because the new payment has to fit next to the old ones. The right amount is the one whose payment fits your slowest month.
What does this look like with real numbers?
| Average monthly deposits | Existing weekly payments | A way to think about it |
|---|---|---|
| $50,000 | None | Somewhere near $50,000 is a common starting point |
| $50,000 | $2,000 | Lower, since the new payment must fit too |
| $20,000 | None | Somewhere near $20,000 |
These are a way to think about sizing, not a promise. Each funder has its own formula.
Why check the payment before the amount?
Before you ask for a number, see what payment it means in the payment calculator.
Why do offers differ between funders?
Funders size an offer from your average monthly deposits, then adjust for your industry, time in business, open advances, credit and how steady the deposits are. Two businesses with the same revenue can get very different amounts. A file with no open advances and steady deposits usually sees the largest amount. A file with two open positions often sees a small offer or none, because the funder has to leave room for the payments you already make.
Ask for the amount you need, not the most a funder will give. A smaller advance keeps the payment lighter and leaves room for later.
Does an existing advance lower the amount?
Yes. A funder sizes the new offer around the payments you already carry, so an open advance shrinks what's left. Paying one off, or folding it into a consolidation, is often what opens up a larger number.
What should you ask the funder?
- How do you size the advance?
- How do my open advances change it?
- What's the payment on the amount I need?
- Can I renew later instead?
Where can you check your own numbers?
The short version is in the Qualifying FAQ. To check the numbers on your own advance, use the MCA payment calculator.
